What to expect
A warm welcome to United Church of God!
“Church” means assembly.
The Church is the people—a body of believers. We’re a church dedicated to learning and doing the will of God.
In the Bible, the word “church” doesn’t mean the building, the leader or the entertainment.
We are a Christian church dedicated to learning and doing the will of God. In New Zealand, we meet each week in Auckland and Hamilton. We come from diverse backgrounds, but share the same vision: to preach the Gospel of God’s Kingdom and prepare a people. Our Sabbath services are centred around the Bible.
Come to our family-oriented service
While we may have classes for teens and children, we do not have a separate meeting for them. We encourage the whole family to sit together for services to learn and worship God together. Parent rooms for nursing or for putting a child down for a nap are available. Ask the pastor if you need help.
Eating together is a great way to grow closer and enjoy a good time every Sabbath.
We often have social events like potlucks, game nights and sporting events. The Church is a family, and families grow when they spend time together.
What are our services like?
Bring your Bible and read with us.
We encourage everyone to bring a Bible and read with us.
We open and close our services with song and prayer.
We seek God’s guidance in everything we do – including worshiping Him! After three hymns, the congregation is first led in a short prayer asking for God’s guidance and inspiration for the service.
We preach directly from the Bible.
Normally in each service we deliver two Bible-centred messages that show how to live God’s way of life.
The short sermon is about 15 minutes long, followed by a longer sermon that can last about an hour. Sometimes a pre-recorded message or a live Internet broadcast is offered.
Our wonderful teachings
We teach an exciting message from the Bible that offers hope and meaning.
It is possible to know what the future holds for us. Our Creator reveals a great purpose for humanity through His annual cycle of feasts described in the Bible. It is an amazing plan that offers an incredible future to every man, woman and child who have ever lived.
Our free study guides can help you understand the truth of what lies ahead for all mankind.
Bible study materials to help you draw closer to God
United Church of God offers a wide variety of free Bible-based study materials, including an informative weekly Beyond Today television program, and an enlightening Beyond Today magazine along with many other study tools to help you improve your life and learn more about your Creator.
Ambassador Bible College (ABC) offers a nine-month Bible-based study program at our main office in Cincinnati, Ohio. You can also listen to ABC classes online at the ABC website or via our streaming UCG Radio.
We partner with LifeNets International to offer scholarships to young people in developing countries and to provide assistance to areas affected by natural disasters.
Local congregations can also offer relief programs in their local communities. The Church also offers opportunities to serve locally, abroad and in your local congregation. Young people can volunteer to serve in international areas through our Youth Corps program.
